Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe 99 names of God, another Persian belief taken by IslamPeace Zampeada, Why did it take 23 years??? It only took Christ a few years to preach the entire Gospel. I would believe the Quran has myths because entire sections of the Quran are found in earlier apocryphal writings. What similaities Christianiytuy and Mithraoism have in common are superficial and not an influence on our faith. If we celebrate our Christian holidays over pagan Mithraic holidays, does that necessarily mean the Christian faith is influenced by Mithraism? See, unlike what I can do you can't quote a selection of the Gospels and find it in some pagan scriptures. Now that would be very different. http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic.php?t=3724 You'll find thid interesting. I have another similarities between Zoroastrianism and Islam to show you. This time it's about salvation, being judged based on deeds. Nam Stayishn 6 6. O righteous one, according to your will, I shall accomplish to the extent of my power, your worship with good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. I shall open for myself the brilliant way of paradise so that the grievous punishment of hell may not be inflicted on me. I shall pass over the Chinwad bridge and attain to the abode of paradise which is very fragrant, all-embroidered, and of all happiness. [2.25] And convey good news to those who believe and do good deeds, that they shall have gardens in which rivers flow; whenever they shall be given a portion of the fruit thereof, they shall say: This is what was given to us before; and they shall be given the like of it, and they shall have pure mates in them, and in them, they shall abide. [23.102] Then as for him whose good deeds are preponderant, these are the successful. [23.103] And as for him whose good deeds are light, these are they who shall have lost their souls, abiding in hell Denkard, Book Five 9:2 Of what manner now are Heaven and Hell? Heaven begin. with the exalted Satarpaya, and Hell is below the surface of the earth. Heaven is luminous, fragrant, bliss-giving, and possessed of all sorts of brilliancy and charm. Hell is dark, full of wretchedness, stinking, lusterless, and given to every misery. In these (Heaven and Hell) there are many sort, of double bliss and double misery respectively. (Such bliss and misery) exist not on the earth that hes between. In the abodes of Satarpaya and Hamistagan are (the souls) both (of) the departed and the dead* having in them an admixture (of merits and sins.) Of them he that has the preponderance of righteousness has the passage to Heaven (i.e. to Satarpaya), while he whose sins are in excess is on the pathway to Hell; and he whose sins and meritorious deeds are in equal proportion has his abode in Hamistagan. What sorts of abodes are there in these three places of different grades? Of these sorts -the first full of bliss and charm, the second devoid of happiness and full of misery, and the third having a combination of the (awards of) righteous purity and sin. |
