Hello, everyone. I need help with my sister. Although we agree that Jesus is Lord and Savior of our lives, we disagree on one aspect: baptism. I say that water baptism is not essential to salvation, because that line of thinking tries to negate Jesus' sacrifice and all of the verses that state that faith in Jesus is responsible for our salvation.
She, on the other hand, believes that unbaptized believers will not be allowed into Heaven. We got into a bit of a disagreement, and she refused to listen to me when I tried to point out the verses and NIV notes that indicate that salvation can be obtained only through our faith in and acceptance of Jesus Christ. She constantly interrupted me and insisted that she "didn't want to hear it." And yet, right now she doesn't have an interest in being baptized, because of a bad experience she had when she was younger. So in her mind, she's accepted the "fact" that she won't be allowed into Heaven because she's unbaptized. (Weird logic, I know.)
But before we began our discussion on baptism, we talked about the verse in Revelation which describes the elders laying their crowns down before the Lord. She told me that that's what she'll do, because she's not in it for the reward. She just wants to be with God, which means that she's acknowledged that she will be walking with God in Heaven. As you can see, she's made contradictory statements, and I don't think she even knows what to believe anymore.
How do I point the truth out to her without having to deal with another argument?
