An interesting debate going on over there. Seems that some people just don't really understand the difference between God killing people for fun, and God judging people for their sin.
But one thing I did find interesting that I wanted to comment to you about, omega..... You don't really think that the Statue of Liberty is an idol that America has set up, do you? And do you really think the WTC was our attempt to reach the heavens and get to God, like Babel was?
The Statue of Liberty was given to us as a good will gift by the French - it wasn't even built by America! And it is a symbol of the freedom we have in our country, and the invitation to all to come and enjoy that freedom (hence the inscription "give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"). And the WTC was a solution to the problem of getting a whole lot of square footage into a really small space - which I think is the main purpose of any skyscraper. I think you might be reading into these things a little too much.
