Came across John 7 in my reading last night, and it reminded me of a previous thread I can't find on whether it's ever right to lie.
vs 7
Therefore Jesus to them: "The right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right. ......... You go to the feast, I am not yet going up to this Feast because for me the right time has not come. Having said this he stayed in Galilee.
However, after his brothers had left for the feast, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.
Now, surely Jesus is at least pulling the wool over someone's eyes here. Clearly, if you're being pedantic there's no technical "lie" in the text, but he's definitely putting across one thing and doing another. I'm not saying this makes him less amazing or Godlike, but was intrigued in what others thought, and whether this could ever justify "lies to save a life" etc.
Your opinions/explanations?
God Bless,
Nick
