In my opinion, it's better to be concerned about how something will affect God and be labeled a "fanatic," than to be unconcerned about how God feels and become wrapped up in the "It's fun! What's the harm in dressing up as a demon?" mentality. I just think that everyone -- especially Christians -- should be careful about what they participate in as far as Halloween is concerned. Heck! I'm even considering avoiding certain types of horror movies, because I don't feel right when I watch them. (Movies like "Scream" and "Nightmare on Elm Street," for example.) I know the violence is fake, but when I watched "Scream 2" last night...I don't know. Something didn't feel right. Afterward, I paused and asked myself, "Why did you watch that movie?" To me, it wasn't even that good. I just continued to watch it so I could find out who the murderer was. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even bothered.
What's your opinion on Christians and horror movies?
wigginismum, you never did get back to me on what is and is not accurate in the article that is featured on my website. I'd like to present your argument to my pastor. But please, don't say that Satanists don't commit horrible atrocities in his name. I have it on good authority (From people who went on a missionary trip to Mexico a while back.) that several prisoners in a jail located somewhere in Mexico are Satanists. They've painted a representation of him on one of the walls, using blood to create his eyes. This blood came from the son of a woman who works in the ministry (If I remember correctly). He was trapped with the prisoners, who stabbed him and used his blood for the image's eyes. Fortunately, this fellow was found by the prison authorities and taken care of.
