The word "submission" is one of the most abused words in the body of Christ. God has not called us to submit to one, but rather submit ye one to another. Part of the definition of submission means present yourself. As much as posible we should live transparent lives in the sight of all christians. This goes double for leaders.
Leadership in the church comes from more mature christians. People who have exibited a life time of service to others.
A true leader in Christ will never pull out the submission whip, and brow beat their brothers and sisters in Christ to pay them loyalty. A true pastor will watch and pray. He will have the dicernment to see people in trouble, and come along side them in prayer, and provide the help they need to overcome adversity. A true pastor has the ability to recognize the gifts and callings of God in another, and put them to good use.
A true pastor has the ability to recognize the wolves in sheeps clothing, and will protect the congregation from them.
A true pastor has the ability to exort and train others on how to witness there faith, and leads others to evangelize, by witnessing their own.
A true pastor remains calm under demonic attack, and knows how to put satan to flight.
A true pastor will visit widows and ophans. Hold the hand of the sick and dying, not just come for dinner because you put the most in the collection plate.
A true pastor will not spiritually abuse people, but rather builds up the faith of all by sound doctrine.
A true pastor is "covered" by the prayers of those he serves, because they recognize the calling on his life, and love him for the service he has exibited towards them.
