Furthermore, let's consider the following. His death was a miracle. Because He gave it. They couldn't take His life; He gave it. Finally, at the end of the fifth hour, hanging on a cruel tree, dying an ignominious death, He cried out, "It is finished!" The heavens darkened, the rocks split open, the earth quaked. This all happened at high noon. But it was not the religious of that day who knew the Law that looked at the darkness in the sky, who felt the earth shake underneath them, who could hear the rocks splitting; it was not the Pharisees and Sadducess that cried, "Truly, this was the Son of God!" No, it was not the religious of that day. It was an ignorant, hedonistic, paganistic Roman soldier; when he saw the heavens darken and felt the earth tremble and heard the rocks start to split; he loosened the strap of his helmet and threw it to the ground and he cried out, "Truly, this was the Son Of God!"
Moreover, His resurrection was an astounding miracle. Because at the apointed time the Spirit of God descended upon His body that was already three days into the throws of decay. And the angels slipped into the garden where the tomb was sealed with a massive stone. And that stone was not only rolled away, it was lifted out of its rolling trench and moved to a place set apart by itself; an impossible feat humanly speaking. And He that was dead came walking out of that tomb victorious over death, hell and the grave.
To sum up: His birth was a miracle. His life was a miracle. He lived and walked in the realm of the miraculous. His resurrection was a miracle. His ascension was a monumental miracle. But perhaps the most outstanding mriacle of all those days was the event at Pentecost. Because suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind that filled all the house where they were waiting. There appeared unto them cloven tongues as of fire and sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. It was the most outstanding miracle of all those days because now we just don't have one Jesus; we've got a hundred and twenty. Then we got three thousand. Then we got five thousand - who can do exactly what He did! And it shook the Roman Empire from center to circumference. Peter was a trembling, fearful and denying man before Pentecost. He miserable failed Jesus and denied Him. But once he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost he fearlessly faced the Sanhedrin and the high priest with the Power that shook them to their very core and center. A stream of miracles flowed from the hands of the Apostles that upset Judaism and shook the Roman Empire to its very foundations. You must understand here. Christianity is based on a series of miracles culminating at Pentecost and it cannot die. All of denominational Christianity is only about 496 years old as of this year. The Baptist Church is only395 years old as of this year. But what I am talking about here today is 1,971 years old! Before the Baptists "I AM", before the Lutherans "I AM", before the Catholic Church "I AM", before the Muslims "I AM", before the Mormons "I AM", before the Jehovah Witnesses "I AM"!
Do you understand what I got a hold of? Do you understand what wants to get a hold of you? This is not the hour for the Church to hang her head. This is the hour to lift up Her head and say, "Yes, I've been baptized in Jesus' name!" "Yes, I speak in tongues!" "Yes, I believe in ONE God!" People if you're ever going to live this its time to get with the program now! Because now is the hour and He's coming back to take His Bride out of here. This is not 'Denominational' Christianity or 'Church Father" Christianity or 'Reformation' Christianity. But this is Apostolic Christianity which is the life of God in Man. Whenever the prayers of a man or a woman whose prayers are heard and answered the multitudes flock to them. Deep seated hunger in the human heart for God is the reason for all religions because they are trying to find Him. Men are easily deceived by pseudo miracle workers because of their hunger for the supernatural. But if the supernatural is ever taken out of this gospel we have only another vain religion. This world does not need another vain religion. This world needs the demonstration of the Spirit of God in power.
