Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinesONE GOD-ONE NAMEDear Aineo, first I want to say I have viewed your posts with doodlewacker and I have total empathy for you the way you've been mocked and abused. I have done nothing but confess the Son, that is, Jesus therefore I have the Father also. To confess Jesus only is to have the Father also. Why? Because Jesus and the Father are the same person revealed in different manifestations. Whenever the titles of Father, Son and Holy Ghost are referred to they are referring to three manifestations of the ONE God. "Unto us a child is born, unto to us a Son is given...and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6) There is only ONE person who has ONE name in the verse as stated by Isaiah and that person is Jesus. "Jesus" is the last revealed name of God that sums up all the titles. So to say there are separate and distinct persons in the Godhead is to say there are two separate Fathers - one named Jesus and the other named "Yahweh"? or "Jehovah"? The same with The Mighty God - one named Jesus and the other named "?" Like I said before "Yahweh" and "Jehovah" are guess names at best. There is no need to guess about God's name. The name has been revealed and that name is Jesus. Jesus is the name above EVERY name (Phillipians 2:9) and the ONLY name whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12) That is why when one confesses Jesus they have the Father also. That is why Jesus said, "when you have seen Me you have seen the Father". Jesus revealed the Father as God manifested in the flesh. God the Father was a Spirit and had no blood to shed. Thus He prepared a body of flesh (Hebrews 10:5) and came to earth as a man in order to save us for in Isaiah 43:11 He said, "Beside Me there is no Saviour". So to say Jesus pre-existed as the Son and the Father looked at Him and said, I want you to go down to die for the sins of mankind denies Isaiah 43:11 among other Scriptures. God did not send someone else, He came down Himself - manifested in the flesh. Flesh and blood cannot reveal this Truth but only by Spiritual revelation as Jesus told Peter (Math 16:17) "...I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes." (Math 11:25) The biggest stumbling block to this this Truth of the Oneness of God is the carnal thinking that one is more wise and prudent than they really are. "For the carnal man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Cor 2:14) Indeed, to the carnal mind: speaking in tongues is foolishness, Oneness of God is foolishness, baptism in the name of Jesus is foolishness, the plan of salvation is foolishness.
