Hi Rome!
What's with the hostility and condemning? I ask one simple question and all of a sudden I'm "ignorant".
Hi BX,
I am not here to condemn anyone. That was a "silly" question to be honest, yes I think you are ignorant of the Catholic Church and what it teaches.
But dont take that offensively, I mean that with all respect to you.

Yes, I am. Are you?
I mean, with all your "LOL's", I can't really tell if you're serious or not.
Those "LOLs" where directed at you and at tuppence because I really did crack up with laughter at this thread.

I'm sorry, I may have asked my question in a wrong tone. I didn't mean for it to come off like that.
Dont worry.

But as I said before, I just asked a simple question. If you think I do not have any knowledge about the Catholic Church, well then try to enlighten, don't condemn me.
Thats exactly what I am trying to do.

I refer to my BIOLOGICAL DAD as "dad".
But for the sake of argument, let's say I referred to him as "father". Would this be in the 'religious sense', as opposed to calling God our "Father"? Of course not.
I call God my "Father"(with a capital F) in the religious [or spiritual] sense.
I call my dad--"dad" because of course he's my parent. But if I called him "father", it would in no way be in the religious sense. I would call him "father" in the same way with the same reason I call him "dad". So therefore, it will not contradict Matt. 23:9.
Catholics, however(as I understand it), call their priests "father" in a religious sense. This is where Matt. 23:9 comes in...and is contradicted. They even go as far as confessing their sins to the priest, the alleged "father". Now, you will probably show me a Catholic doctrine on why Catholics confess their sins to the priest and why the priests have an authority to forgive people of their sins. Save it, RSH, I've probably seen it before. And besides, that's another topic.
Let me repharse my question. If someone asked you if your dad was your father what would you say? no because of Matt 23:9?
Priests are our Spiritual helpers, our biological fathers help us in everyday life and we have One heavenly Father ie GOD.
I will "save it" its on another thread as you said.

Who? Me? Well, anyway...
Maybe I am being illogical, but when did I ever say I hated the Catholic Church?
You are assuming something about me(if it IS about me) that may or may not even be true. That's the thing though--you don't know. So why make the claim? You don't want to find out later on that what you said isn't true at all, right? Otherwise, you just made a false accusation, which in this case, it IS a false accusation.
No, I do not hate the Catholic Church. Tsk, tsk...careful, RSH.
I addressed that to tuppence, not you.
I am going to ignore Aieno's post as he has yet to provide me with a single peice of scripture besides Matt 23:9 that he twists out of context to prove his false teaching regarding the use of the word "father".
Peace
