Just a thought...
There was a survey I read one time that compared the attitudes of weak or indifferent Christians, strong Christians, and the general public. It found that the weak Christians were more prejudiced than the general public, but that the mature Christians were the least prejudiced. This goes with what history records from the times of slavery, that the slave owners who were Christian were the worst. Obviously, the strong Christians did not own slaves. My point is that this person you quoted definitely sounds like a weak Christian. He fits the pattern exactly.
What is interesting is that in church you often have the least prejudiced (generous, wise, kind) people in town trying to work with and get along with the most prejuduced (hateful, unkind) people in town. That's one reason that church is so challenging for people with true hearts.
