ArchivedGreek languageThe word "with"{pros} is applied to persons and is an indication of intimacy or fellowship, and at all times refers to distinction. An example can be found in this passage:We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8) "pros ton kurion"{with the Lord} In John 1:1 and 2 Corinthians 5:8, the word "with" pros is and expression of intimacy and relationship that is shared with the Lord. If the Greek language did not have a symbol for "a" then tell them to apply it to this verse and see if it makes sense:No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (John 1:18) They choose to throw in the "a" in John 1:1 because of a lack of an definite article {the}, in the above passage there is also a lack of a definite article, therefore according to their translations it should read "no man hath seen (A) god" which makes no sense, now you can clearly see how they take words out of context. theos en ho logos:God was the Word NOT ho Logos en Theos:The Word was a god Here is another famuos psssage Jehovahs Witnesses love to use:But to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. (1 Corinthians 8:6) In the above passage it seems to indicate that the Father alone possesses Deity, however if this is the case then the Son alone possesses Lordship. If thats the case than the scriptures have contradictions which is an impossiblity. The below passage clearly says that there is ONE LORD and that this "ONE LORD" is GOD. The Old testament passages almost if not all times calls God the Father the One God and One Lord. Deuteronomy 6:4 - Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Since there is ONE LORD Jesus Christ and ONE GOD, The Father, and that the Father is also referred to as LORD as with the Son, therefore Christ is both LORD and GOD, a co-equality shared between the Son and the Father.
