ArchivedThe Rapture: a false belief?It is up to the reader whether he wants to believe if a particular passage in scripture points to a "rapture" or not. I pointed out that Matthew 24:40 was NOT a passage that refers to the Rapture. The only passages in scripture that is commonly used to point to a rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. Firstly the word Rapture does not occur in the english Bible, the Latin bible uses the verb here from which the word rapture derives{raptus}, and is expressed in the words "caught up" 1 Thess describes believers who will be caught up "harpazo"(to seize or to snatch)to meet Christ in the clouds, instantly receiving glorified bodies.
A "Shout" certainly is not secretive, according to many rapturists, unless somehow unbelievers are somewhat deafened and their ears are dull of hearing. A similar passage is found in 1 Corinthians 15:51,52, and describes that at the "last trump", which is not the last trump of Revelation 11:15, that the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and that "we" shall be changed.
