Hey, I have a question which, IMO, is kind of a big one. I'm curious as to what y'all think about pushing for the legislation of laws which do not physically harm anyone.
We can use pornography as the main topic, although this applies to many other "sins" which do not physically nor mentally harm people (we can ignore extremists here - anything can be damaging if taken to extremes). What right does anyone have to remove the harmless rights of others? I'm not accusing anyone here of doing this - I've just seen this in the past (remember Tipper Gore's crusades against Rock Music in the 80's?) and have seen a resurgence with the "banning" of everything that <insert name here> doesn't agree with.
I can understand that the Bible and your Faith prohibits you from participating in certain practices. I can accept that as Christians there are certain things that you will likely not do - and you most certainly not like. However knowing that the world is made up of Billions of different people, isn't it a bit presumptuous to attempt to force them to live the way that you think they should live?
A secondary question: If you feel that the opportunities for sin should be abolished, doesn't that remove the God-Given right of freedom of choice between good and evil? An example, I know many Christians that would find the world a much better place if every rule, law, or function centered around what is Biblically correct - if people don't have the opportunity to sin, doesn't that remove their freedom to choose to do so? I know that's kind of convoluted - hopefully it makes sense
I hope I didn't say anything wrong - I'm not trying to be a pain or anything, I'm simply curious as to the mind-set Thanks!
