ArchivedWhose CompassionThe addict killed the addict. If you disagree and think that Man #2 is responsible for his death, consider this: My mother gives me money for Christmas to spend however I want. I choose to go out, buy a gun, and kill myself. Did my mother kill me? Is my mother even responsible for my death? No, because I am responsible for my actions. I chose to shoot myself, just as the addict chose to take the drugs that eventually led to his death. Not quite enough info to answer this question. But I'll make some assumptions to fill in the gaps. Man #1 showed more compassion because he took the time to stop and talk to the addict to try to convince him that there is a better way. He refused to give him money, knowing that he would only use the money to buy more drugs which would make the situation worse. Man #2 showed little compassion because he didn't even talk to the addict, but rather just gave him money so he could be on his way without feeling guilty for not having done anything. But, while I believe that Man #1 showed more compassion, I do not believe he showed as much compassion as he could have. |
