The sense of security that Christians does not come from the fact that we believe God will take care of us in the here-and-now..... it comes from our belief that He has reconciled us to Himself and therefore we will be "taken care of" in the hereafter. Your securedness may suite you fine for now, but what's going to happen after you die and your fate is in someone else's hands? Interesting. I wouldn't think that the Christian version of God would be the one that would naturally be projected from the human mind. The Catholic version, maybe - the one that says do enough good works and I'll let you into heaven - but not the Christian version - the one that says the only thing you can do to get into heaven is believe in Me. From your perspective, this might seem true. But a Christian does not do what he does for the sole purpose of feeling good about himself. He does it because it is pleasing to God. Feeling good about it personally is only a byproduct of pleasing God. |
