I'm sorry, but i'm a tad bit offended by your statement that we have no problem with lying.
I for one, have a very very big problem with lies, and I hate lies.
I am in a church, which goes by bible alone, and the bible teaches that the law has to be upheld(behaviour laws, hygenic laws, Gods law, food laws, etc...) for it's for the better, although you cannot earn your salvation by keeping the law, because the law in itself brings death.
The bible never teaches that Jesus is God Himself, although if you wish to see that in the bible, you can see it, but you have to close your mind off from all other interpretations.
The most important counter argument against the trinity dogma is "Hear o Israel, The LORD our God is one"
Now, I must say, I cannot read arabic, nor do I intend to learn it I can read hebrew with a dictionary, and that is kinda where it stops .
Neither am I an expert in the qu'ran, but what I do know, is that there are muslims, who have accepted Christ as their saviour, through the qu'ran, because the qu'ran also teaches salvation through Christ. So i'm not one of those Christians to completely dis the qu'ran, although I don't agree with all of it.
The same I could say of the jehova's bible, it's left out a lot of things, but people could come to real faith through their bible and be saved by Christ.
What I seem to remeber from my sis in Christ, is that the qu'ran has somewhere this verse to treat the people of the book with respect because they have the same word of God or something in that context.
I also know of muslims being very peacefull and loving and hospitable(although here in the netherlands I kinda don't notice that, because they've grown fond of sex, money and alcohol) when they are in their own culture and country, and it's not ruled by an extremist goverment.
After all, we all have our roots in Abraham, I through spiritual adoption through Christ, you by descent via Ishmael or also spiritual adoption. We are in essence brothers.
Now, may I advice you, to treat us as your brothers, with respect and dignity. Yes we can disagree, yes we can argue, but keep the respect up, for we are both descendants from Abraham through our faith.
Your qu'ran gives an insight, from the vieuwpoint of ishmael and his descendants, our bible gives the other side, from isaac and his descendants.
Only if we speak historically, I would give the bible more credibility than the qu'ran because it's backed up on all fronts by archeology and science, plus it was written over a perioud of roughly 1500 years, and the qu'ran has been given by divine revelation, which makes it in my eyes a bit sketchy, because you will not find any previous records to back up the claims, if you know what I mean, or older manuscripts to confirm the authenticity.
The bible is backed up in authenticity by heaps of "secular" sources of script, repeatedly referred to, and the events concerning the nation israel is also recorded in archeology and historic records of other nations.
The bible has a stronger point as a historically 100% accurate report of events, and personality of God because of it's accuracy(if the one is true, then the other is also true), and the qu'ran is given by divine revelation...
What would you say that the strong points of the qu'ran are, and why it's undoubtly accurate historically, and about the character of God?
