Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesFalse Religions and the AfterlifeI suggest Googleing specifics instead of accepting the generalities found on Wikipedia. You might start with these:
I agree that scientific knowledge is advanced through disagreements. However, such disagreements do not always result in a consensus. For example special relativity has its supporters as does quantum physics. These two theories cannot be reconciled. Add string theory and you add more confusion and speculation. As to evolutionary biology, what we can see is the fossil record. However, ask an evolutionary biologist to give you a rational explanation for the Cambridge Explosion and all you will get is confusing rhetoric designed to avoid the question. Your example concerning viruses and bacteria does not support evolution from one genus to a higher genus. Science starts and ends with a virus or a bacteria. What you are appealing to is speciation, or changes within a species. Dogs are probably a more viable example of this type of "evolution". Also what has been found in evolution that can be observed is a loss, not a gain of genetic information, which in itself defeats evolution adapting by adding genetic information as an organism evolves to a higher genus, family, order, and etc. Therefore, what science can show can easily be interpreted both pro and con. What determines ones interpretation is bias. This bias developed fairly recently. Galileo, Newton, Pasteur, and etc. were Bible believing Christians who did not take an either/or position. In fact there are a plethora of present day Christian scientist who accept the scientific explanation of the universe and still maintain their faith. I have valid reasons for not putting my faith in man. With few exceptions the rich run roughshod over the middle and lower classes. The worst abusers of their fellowman include those who are out to promote a religion and those who are avowed atheists. I have seen atheists point to Hitler as an example of a professed Christian committing atrocities but they want to ignore atheists Stalin and Mao Tse-tung atrocities, which were arguably worse than Hitler. On the other hand charity hospitals, public education, and civil rights are the fruit of Christianity, not atheism. |
