ArchivedGay Men Coming to the Rescue of Style-ChallengedWell, if Christopher is just acting gay he deserves an Oscar! He has the mannerisms, the speech patterns, and the lingo for an effeminate gay man down better than any straight actor I have ever seen or heard. No, I don't think I am going overboard. Until recently the only professions gay men could go into without being discriminated against were fashion, cosmetology, flower design, art, and the entertainment industry (especially dance) and they excel at it. I also know straight men with a good sense of style, but not as good as my gay friends, and I also know straight men who are fanatics about cleanliness and order, but not as fanatical as my gay friends. The most slovenly people I know are straight, my sister for one, and I also know gay men who are slobs. On the whole gay men are more fashion conscious, home oriented, etc. than ever-straight men. And there is a double standard in most western nations. Our nation’s attention was focused on homosexual pedophiles due to the scandal with RCC priests and the cover-up by Bishops and Cardinals. The only time you hear anything in the media about girls being molested in when they are kidnapped or murdered, so heterosexual pedophiles are not as notorious. This is a double standard when you check statistics and see that number wise more girls suffer molestation than boys. I occasionally watch daytime TV and see gay men doing makeovers for straight women all the time, yet I don’t hear or see any national controversy on Christian boards about this. If you are going to be concerned about gay men in the media why wait until they start a program where gay men advise straight men about fashion and culture? Hey, the vast majority of male models are gay, so when straight men pick up GQ they are supporting gay male models, this does not seem to bother heterosexuals, but when it comes to gay men socializing and advising straight men on TV it seems to be a matter for thread after thread on Christian boards. This is a double standard, and hypocrisy, at least in my opinion. If you want to combat the visibility of gays on TV, limit them all or stop stirring the pot. |
