ArchivedJesus a Hypocrite in the Bible???Actually,
There is a really good reason why Jesus cried those words out on the cross. You see, he really was forsaken by the Father. Remember why He died? Because our sin makes it impossible to come into the presence of the Holy God and live .
Please read Exodus 19 before reading on.. it's essential to see the effect of a sinful person who attempts to come into the presence of the Holy and Almighty God.
Then read on from here.
The Jesus who died was 100% human.. and the Bible tells us, that as He died on the cross, the sins of every single human being were laid on Him. Now, Jesus the man, who had spent years in relationship with the Father, suddenly found himself unable to enter the presence of God the Father.
( now He was also fully God and never stopped being God when He died.. but please see other threads for that .. it has been well discussed in these forums)
Here is a review of those last 6 agonising hours of his life
"For six agonising hours, the Lord hung on the cross. His clothing stripped from His body, His flesh torn and bleeding, each breath causing excruciating pain. Crucifixion meant intense physical suffering. But the Lord suffered more in spirit as sins of the world were heaped on Him.
For three hours, beginning at noon, a strange darkness settled over the land. The light of the sun failed as God made His Son to be sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21). Suddenly an anguished cry from Jesus' lips pierced the darkness "my God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). As the Almighty turned His back on the Son, Jesus could not utter the words "my Father." Finally, after six hours, of excruciating agony, such as no man has ever endured, or ever will endure, Jesus uttered the final cry. "It is finished" and .. then surrendered up His life (John 19:30).
In the original, the cry "it is finished" is a single word. The Lamb of God offered Himself as a sacrifice on the altar of the cross, and when the task of redemption was completed, the Saviour of the World cried out "Finished" and breathed His last. With the offering of this sacrifice, the veil in the temple Holy of Holies was torn from top to bottom. The way into the presence of God was opened for anyone.. the forsaken son, had opened the door so that all could come by faith and with head held high.. into the presence of Almighty God with no fear and in the knowledge of total acceptance. (Hebrew 9:7-8, 10:19-22.)
