Hi everyone,
I watched the first part of a two part series on the hajj last night on our national television station, the ABC. It was recorded in England, so maybe some of you other than us Aussies have seen it. It was recorded last year, just prior to the break out of the war, and followed 5 Muslims from different parts of the world preparing for the Hajj last year (2003).
I found it fascinating viewing, and am looking forward to next weeks edition, as I have discovered that my understanding of Islam has grown tremendously over the past year and to see things we have discussed on the television was excellent.
Now though, I have a question, which maybe answered next week, but they only mentioned this in passing .. they said that offering sacrifice was a necessary part of the Hajj for the forgiveness of sins, and that on return from the Hajj, they said that you know your sins are forgiven. One other comment that they mentioned a number of times was that Allah is meant to dwell in Kabah.
A third comment, was that a son was doing the Hajj for his Father who was unable to do the Hajj before he died. The son was hopeful that if he did it in his father's place, his father would have a better place in paradise.
Can anyone tell me 1. what this sacrifice is for and 2. Is it truly thought that Allah dwells in the Kabah? 3. How does undertaking the hajj for a departed loved one, assist them in "finding a better place in paradise".
Thanks for your help. I don't think I'll be around for a few days now, but i hope some answers are waiting for me before Friday, as the next episode is on Sunday night.
Special question for Lady Fatima, if you read this, did you see the progam? it was on Compass? Was it a good discussion from your perspective?
God bless everyone
Carol
Thanks everyone
