ArchivedDeception of The Passion, Christians Read This...Maybe they're saving that for the sequel. But seriously dude, you are making absolutely no sense to me what-so-ever. You think maybe you could explain it to me like I'm a four year old? How is a movie about Jesus crucifixion bad? How is watching it in a movie different than reading about it in the bible? That's like saying it's only good the read the newspaper, but bad to watch the news. Like I said before, some people need a visual aid. That guy in that audio clip talks about an "unwanted reenactment". Well that's his opinion. He says it focuses on the physical pain and not the spiritual pain, or something like that. Well I see both, and even if people see only the physical, at least it might get their minds working, and they will feel guilty. Then they might start reading the bible to get the spiritual aspect of it. That guy in the audio clip sounds like your typical, long winded, old fashioned, boring Baptist preacher. I listened to half of it, and had to stop it. I was forced to go to Baptist church as a child, and hated it. That, among other things, turned me away from Christianity. Now that I'm a proud Christian, I still have to say that I don't care for the Baptist services, or "doctrines". The bible says not to preach in a bragging kinda way, and in my opinion that's what they do. Like those long winded prayers that last 30 minutes or more. God doesn't want to hear the same dribble over and over. In fact, and this is my belief, when you pray, it is between you and God. It's not for the public. In my Bible study, we all go our separate ways to pray / talk to God alone. That's what Jesus did. Anyway, back to the subject. That guy is stating his opinion, and I believe he likes to hear himself talk. The bible didn't go into detail about how he was whipped, but a Theologist research beyond the bible, like the Roman history. They find out how they whipped people during that time period, and what kinds of whips they used. A guy I know, with a masters in theology, told me about how Jesus was beaten, and it went along with what I saw in the movie. Thing is, he told me this three years ago. Please explain how this movie goes against Gods word, or authority. I'll do my best to keep up. And no one is saying they trust "mans majority over Gods authority", except you saying that about us. I trust God over man, and I think God is behind this movie. God want's us to spread the word. Well, that's what Mel is doing, and if he has the ability to do it on a worldwide scale, then that's all the better. Again, tell me how this movie is against the bible. And not being 100% historically accurate doesn't count. Your question seems to be a trick question. Your question is " ... do you really think you should be getting yourself into a movie that is AGAINST Gods Word and what himself says?" I'll say the answer would have to be NO, however the movie in question is not against Gods Word so as far as this movie is concerned, the answer is N/A. And yes Gods word is sharper than any movie, as Gods words are sharper than my words, your words, or any other words, but that doesn't make this movie "against Gods words". It's a movie trying to spread Gods word, especially to those who don't know God, or at least don't know him like they should. "....The audio message link i gave was from a pastor, en elder, somebody who knows better than we do..." Well that's your opinion, as I'm sure it's his as well. Being an elder doesn't make him right, or mean he knows more than anyone here. He's just an old windbag, in my opinion. I'm not trying to offend anyone. I'm just trying to understand how a movie depicting God, Jesus, and Christianity in a positive light, is all of a sudden a bad thing amongst the Christian community. |
