ArchivedAtheists, Buddhism, Pagan, or the Jewish religionHello Non-Christian, NC, I am no bible scholar either, but I shall try to make my case nonetheless. John 1:1:"in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:14:"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:10:"He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not." John 2:23-25: "Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men. And needed not that any should testify of man:for he knew what was in man." 1st Kings 8:39: "Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (For thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men Jeremiah 17:10:"I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." Colossians 1:15-19:"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;" Hebrews 1:5-10:"For unto which of the angels said he at any time, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?" And again, "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son?" And again, when he bringeth the firstbegotten into the world he saith, "And let all the angels of God worship Him." And of the angels he saith, "Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire." But unto the Son he saith,"Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom." "Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." And, "Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:" Titus 3:3-6: "But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;" 1st Timothy 2:3: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;" Isaiah 45:15: "Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Savior." Isaiah 45 21-22: "Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that ancient time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else." Revelation 1:17-18:" And when I saw him, i fell at his feet as dead, and he laid his right hand upon me. saying unto me, "Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death." Isaiah 41:4 "Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he." Isaiah 43:11:" I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior." Isaiah 43:3a "For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior:" Revelation 22:12-13: "And, behold I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." Revelation 22:20: "He that testifieth these things saith, "Surely I come quickly." Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus." John 8:58: "Jesus said unto them, 'Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am'." Exodus 3:14: "And God said unto Moses. 'I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." In the Greek septuagint this last verse is rendered using the phrase, "Ego Eimi", for I AM. The same phrase is used by Jesus to the Pharisees(the Jews in John 8:58,) They seemed to understand what He was claiming, because they took up stones to kill Him. In 1st century Palestine it was blasphemy to utter the ineffable name of God, let alone to ascribe it unto Yourself, yet Jesus did just this very thing. The Scriptures clearly teach that Jesus Christ is God, the Son of God, and by inferrence the doctrine of the Trinity. This is my belief, and the belief of orthodox Christianity from the time of the Apostles. I hope this helps to clarify. . . Regards, Everett 8) |
