Christian/Muslim ThreadsWho is the last and greatest prophet?TheBeliever99, that was quite a response. Don't think I was being rude by not posting a response before now but there was a lot to take in. Where did the idea about the times for praying come from? I have heard it before but wasn't sure of its origin. The New Testament speaks of Jesus spending whole nights in prayer. When his disciples asked him about prayer he gave them an outline, but told them to go in to a room and pray in secret. I am sure there is no mention of the frequency of prayer. Paul in his letter to the Thessalonians talks of praying without ceasing, possibly referring to Christians needing to always being in an attitude of prayer or to not giving up on anything we pray for. Your next paragraph is one I have difficulty with. A prophet is only shown to be true if his prophecies come true. Miracles can be counterfeited (e.g. Moses before Pharaoh) though Jesus performed his in full view of everyone, they were never in secret. I understand that almost everyone in Palestine could have seen at least one of his miracles. Did Mohammed make any prophecies that came true in his lifetime? If so what are they? Christians believe that when Jesus returns that will be the end of any debate. He will not need to teach as he will come in all his glory with his angels to destroy the earth with fire. Those who trusted in him as Almighty God and Saviour will be with him for all eternity those who disbelieved him or believed they could save themselves through doing good works will be condemned to hell. When the Lord Jesus Christ so they might die and escape the sight of Jesus. It will then be too late for people to turn to him. As Muslims believe, we do not have any images of Jesus either in our homes or at our churches. How can you worship God through something that a sinful man has created. Idols like that are wrong and clearly condemned in Exodus 20 (the Ten Commandments). You are right we cannot make any human being God. Jesus Christ is Almighty God from before the beginning of time (for all eternity). The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for ever. He, in his majesty and greatness, accepted to become a man to die for our sins. There was no other way to remove the penalty for sin, which is eternal damnation. Jesus proved he was God in many ways, but mainly by making that claim and rising from the dead. If Jesus was merely a deluded human being God would not have allowed him to rise again. Sorry this response is a long one. I am looking forward to reading what you think. |
