hi
If the argument manages to subside, I have to admit Kerry has a point.
(About the logic of the statement "Good and Evil") which is written into most modern translations of the bible. On the surface it appears to be a glaring contradiction, but an interesting one. it also belies an even bigger contradiction that often crosses my mind. If you take this to mean the fall, it would appear to mean the emergence of free will, to decide what is good or evil. But to come to Gd requires an act of free will rather than an act of simple blind obedience. Gd does not want "yes people" but genuine followers. but to acheive this, well there needed to be this "Fall". whic is confusing.
The point is the whole passage does raise some very interesting philosophical questions which really need to be looked into. Even though the premise that "Curiosity is bad" appears in the passage. The parable of the prodical son may have some bearing on understanding this however. The idea of walking away from Gd and then returning. I suspect the concept of "Good and evil" in this context mean free will, however I also suspect that this raises more questions than it answers. but it is an interesting point that realy should not be dismissed. as the paradox does provde a key to understanding.
Shalom
Sophie.
