Actually you have claimed you are gay because it is genetic:
5)Why are you gay?
The same reason why I am Chinese or why I have black hair. Because I just am.
While I concede that it was a bad analogy, the nature of why I am gay is closely similar to other attributes that are genetic.
2.) It's funny you told me to read up on Camperio-Ciani's research since his studies suggest other genetic factors in homosexuality rather than a clear-cut homosexual gene. Summarily, his research is still showing a trend of genetics being the casuation agent for homosexuality.
Camperio-Ciani uses the word "could" in his study and he concludes that about 21% of gays
could have a genetic component leaving the causation of the other 79% to other reasons; the other reasons are environment and personality.
So? The other reasons
could be environment and personality except his genetic-caused hypothesis is backed with his research. Just because it's not entirely conclusive does not mean it is not improbable.
3.) I use 'ignorant' for a reason. For someone to claim that homosexuality is a choice is pure ignorance. Even you can't disagree with that.
Not all Christians take the position that gays choose to deal with homosexual desires; however just like heterosexuals choose to act on their desires so do homosexuals. There is an element of choice to all human behavior.
And Christians who take the position that gays choose their homosexual desires is just as ignorant as racists or misogynists.
Pint0 Xtreme wrote:On another note, why are we so concerned whether or not homosexuality is genetic? We all know that sexual orientation is innate and not chosen. What difference does it make whether genetics is the primary cause?
This only demonstrates your ignorance of scientific truth since not everyone (including scientists) claim sexual orientation is innate, which means homosexuals who have the motivation can choose to change their orientation and/or behavior.
Because some people (including 'scientists') claim that sexual orientation is not innate, that means it doesn't? Are we on an authority fallacy roll here or what? I don't know why you insist gays should change their orientation when there is no reason to do so in the first place since the chance for success is relatively very low and possibly traumatic.
