But don't Catholics believe the Saints are alive in heaven and not dead? "I am the Elohim of Abraham, and the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob? Elohim is not the Elohim of the dead, but of the living." I understand the prohibition of consulting the dead, but it seems to me that the Catholic position concerning intercession of the Saints is based on their belief that the Saints aren't dead. The question then becomes; are the Saints alive or are they dead? Are they alive now, or will they remain dead until the resurrection? If they are indeed dead, then it would be wrong to attempt to contact them, but if they are alive then it becomes something different. I'm not trying to prove either side, I'm just saying that the Catholics intentions concerning intercession is to communicate with the living, whilst others of us would perceive this to be communicating with the dead. |
