Re: us one with God and Jesus
burwelm wrote:I've been contemplating that too lately and I think what it means is that we have the mind of Christ and the mind of God through the Bible so when we become one with them is when we begin remembering what Jesus did and what the Bible says and incorporating that in our lives. Many times I am in situations where I would have no idea how to handle them except that I remember what the Bible has said and use it as my guide. As Christians we are to be conformed to the image of Christ by thoroughly understanding the Bible on our own. What I mean is that we cannot rely on what other people say as truth but what they say can point us to certain ideas in the Bible and only through the Bible can we share the mind of Christ and God. The Holy Spirit is what helps us spiritually percieve or recognize the difference between what is right or wrong for us to do or say at any particular moment. The more we incorporate the mind of Christ (Bible) into our person and into our understanding of the world, the more confidence we will have because we will be thinking as God does. It is the Bible that makes us in tune with God. But also we must open our hearts and minds to many things in the world until we grasp a firm understanding of them. We must do this because life demands it and the world needs us to be leaders in it so that we may lead others to Christ. Nothing is bad or good in and of itself but it is our resons for doing what we do that makes something bad or good. If we are doing something for God it will draw us closer to God and make us hungry for more knowledge and understanding of God. If we do something for a reason other that God we will know because it will make us unsatisfied with God and the things of Him and make us uncomfortable with God and Christians. Being one with God is wanting what God wants. We will never be able to do all that God can do and we will make mistakes but we will learn more about God through the mistakes so that we will not make them again.
That is a good start friend and I'll pray that God gives you more so that the minute errors can be removed. Also, please can you break it up next time though. That was a long paragraph, lol...
Aineo, not every follower of Christ accepts the trinity and I was talking solely about trinitarian belief from a basic and logical standpoint and not my own belief. So if you think that is cultish, you may want to rethink your beliefs b/c it is your belief I was analizing and not my own belief being taught. I was only talking about trinitarian doctrine in that post, if you had took the time to understand it. God bless and maybe next time you'll be able to find some reason to get rid of me. Keep trying though...
