Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinesCatholicism :: Old and NewOld and New Oh my, you have a lot of reading to do. But more importantly, you should Pray the Bible. That is what I do when I can. There are so many parallels between the Old and New Testament. This is NOT my opinion or interpretation. This comes directly from the teachings of Jesus Christ Himself; the TRUTH. I have some parallels here which are not in any particular order; Old=Adam - New=Jesus Old=Eve - New=Mary Old=Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil - New=The Cross Old=Moses - New=Jesus Old=Joshua - New=Jesus Old=King Solomon - New=Jesus Old=Ark of the Covenant - New=Mary Old=Tabernacle - New=Mary (& Tabernacles of all the Catholic churches in the world) Old=Tower of David - New=Mary Old=Jerusalem - New=Heaven Old=Entry into the Promised Land - New=Entry into Heaven Old=Israel - New=The Catholic Church Old=Noah's Ark - New=The Catholic Church Old=Noah's Ark - New=Mary; Spiritual Vessel Old=Waters on which Noah's ark floated - New=Baptism Old=Waters parted in the Red Sea - New=Baptism Old=David (leaping) - New=John the Baptist (leaped in Elizabeth's womb) Old=Caleb - New=Mary Old=King Saul - New=Paul Old=Daughter of Zion - New=Mary Old=Twins, Esau & Jacob - New=Thomas (doubting Thomas) Old=Twins, Zerah & Perez - New=Thomas (doubting Thomas) Old=Judah - New=Judas Old=Simeon - New=Simon-Peter; Swords Old=Joseph - New=Joseph Old=Jonathan - New=John (both Apostle AND Baptist) Old=Manna - New=Eucharist These are just some of them. Not only that, but in the New Testament, the Apostles quote a lot from the Old Testament, because after all, the "Scriptures" for them were the Old Testament. |
