Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesOneness debateIn Hebrew "echad" represents the cardinal number 1. A compound unity is not designated with "echad", a compound unity is designated by the word it modifies. One night is a period of time as is one day, one month, one year, and etc. A married couple become "echad" body until death and the married couple are not of one essence. The LORD or Yehovah is also called Father. Therefore to the Hebrews Yehovah is not also the Son and the Holy Spirit. "Yachid" can also mean "unique" since Isaac was not Abraham's "yachid" son. However in John 17:3 Jesus refers to the Father as the only true God. Now since Jesus spoke Aramaic a form of Hebrew if we use your semantics then Jesus affirms that the Father is the "yachid" true God in John 17:3. Clement of Alexandria used Greek philosophy to interpret the Bible. Origen refined Clement's Greek philosophical approach to interpreting the Bible when he developed the concept that became the doctrine of the Trinity. Now that you have tried to avoid the plain language meaning of the Scriptures I posted do you think you can explain those scriptures without wrangling over words, redefining words, and using philosophical concepts foreign to the men the Holy Spirit inspired to write the Bible? |
