I'm wondering if anyone can give some advice on Christian/Muslim marriages?
I am Christian and my boyfriend is Muslim. I love and respect him totally. We have been dating for a little over a year - and I have recently met his father - and was welcomed into his family - and invited to his father's home in Africa. As you can image this meant so much to both of us! Yet - there are problems. 1) We live in the South and there is a racial issue : My dad doesn't want me to marry a black man 2) My family is way Christian and do not want me to marry a Muslim man.
I don't know what to do. I can see him as my husband, and I can see us having a beautiful life together - but at the same time I can see us having problems. He has asked his father for advice and his dad thinks that our marriage would be good, and work itself out. But my boyfriend wants to raise our possible children knowing Islam - and I would hope to raise them Christian. He respects Christianity / and I respect Islam and we are both interested in learning more about both, but not interested in converting.
Do you all know of anyone who has made this work and overcome these challenges? Please help!
