ArchivedWhat does the Bible say on women, sexuality, slavery, etc. ?People can live their lives the way they want to. But as a Christian, you know I am not going to agree with you on this issue of fornication. I guess people would have to see for themselves and learn the hard way. As for your remark in parenthesis, what I said in my last post must have flied right over your head: "And ultimately, Christianity is blindly judged by the actions of Christians instead of the teachings itself." Slavery is wrong, I agree. But the fact of the matter is, it was not God's fault that slavery existed in the first place. Jesus did not have slaves. In fact, Jesus came to serve. Slavery was a result of the hardness of man's heart, just like divorce is. Therefore, Jesus in His parables used the examples of masters and servants so it can relate to the environment His desciples lived in. If Christ was such a slavemaster, then why doesn't He mention humans having slaves in the kingdom to come? If you are a person who can accept the fact that people follow their own religions, then accept the fact that "xtians" are only following theirs. Christians are not the ones to claim Christianity to be the "be all and end all." It is Christ who makes that claim, you know, the One whom we follow. If we were to abandon these teachings of Christ (i.e.--not comprimising with other religions), then we would no longer be Christians. And if we are no longer Christians, then it is you who takes away the idea of religious freedom due to the fact you are telling us there is not one true faith, which is something we disagree with in the first place. Again, as Christians we are just doing what we are commanded. No one told you to come on this site. There was no Christian that was hassling you to come and disagree with us. I never asked you if you were bought up Christian or if you were interested in Christianity. And many people in this nation are "bought up" Christian, but don't even know how to discern biblical passages. In fact, many people who are bought up Christian don't even read the Bible! If you were such a Christian, you would not come on this site and initially post things from the Bible which are taken out of context. You would have studied the passages and come to a logical conclusion that the Bible is not against women or for slavery, but showing you the sinful nature of mankind. |
