I will again point all of you to Hosea. In case none of you have studied this book; God instructs His prophet to marry a prostitute. She abandons her life and then returns to it over and over. And each time Hosea is told to forgive her and take her back.
All to often those who do not understand that homosexuality is more than a sex act think that the root sin is sexual lust when in truth the roots are anger, bitterness, and other negative emotions that need to be handled before sexual healing can take place.
Matt 6:14-15
14 "For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 "But if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. NAS
Eph 4:31-32
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. NAS
Heb 12:15-16
15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; 16 that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. NAS
Deliverance ministries focus on what they can see and ignore what cannot be seen and that is the roots of unforgiveness, bitterness, angry, years of rejection that have piled up in an individuals heart.
Col 1:12-14
13 For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. NAS
One He has done this for us we have to learn to live a forgiven life and that folks, is the hard part. Jesus gives us the tools and His Spirit but we have to use the tools and follow the Spirit's lead.
Jesus instructed His disciples to go, preach the gospel, and
make disciples. Discipling is work for both the teacher and the student.
