Your comparison with fusion in stars is not really correct Helix.
We know quite a bit about fusion in stars. We can say: To have a fusionreaction we need high pressure and high temperatures, these can be provided by a previous fusionreaction or forces in a gas nebular.
We do not know this much about the forming of cells. We can say: To create a cell we need some things, these can be provided by another cell.
We simply don't know how we can make a cell. I think it is stupid to say that it is impossible for us to make a cell simply because we do not know how to do it at the moment.
