Christian/Muslim ThreadsWhat did Jesus look like?Thank you for answering my question so thouroughly. So Christianity also rejects idolatry so this is why some Christians do not codone the use of the cross and even displaying images of Jesus. Now Aineo this question is directly for you.. do you agree with creating images of Jesus? I recently had a course at college that was African American Studies 200. My professor, who was a Christian, felt it was wrong that images of Jesus were created because it created grounds for discrimination by early Chrisitians towards people of color. We studied some of American Literature in which we read passages from the Declaration of Independence and other works by Thomas Jefferson and other white authors, that perpetuated this statement that he made. Do you agree with that statement which was made by my professor, and do you (on a personal level) think that there should be images of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) created? Also, I'm not sure of the differences between Cathloticism and conventional Christianity, but do you think there will ever be a pope that is a person of color? Why is it that people of color have not gained high rankings in religious positions in Christianity? With the exception of Martin Luther King Jr. I cannot think of any famous Christian religious leaders that were of color. I remember I watched "The Message," which is a motion picture about the arrival of Islam, and some of the characters that played the early Muslims sought refuge with a Christian pope who was African American. It's a good film, you should watch it. Although you are not Muslim I think you should watch it because it is interesting. I watch the Passion of the Christ and it even made me cry, but I think it was a good film. Any way I'm getting off-topic, you may disregard all the other stuff I wrote but please answer my previous questions. |
