Science, Creation & Evolutionso wheres the evolution in yeast?I write about evolution as if it is an entity with a will of its own because it so much faster. Experts write about it in the same way, because they know their audience knows what they mean. For example: 'Evolution decided that elephants (mammoths) with a thick fur could survive in arctic regions, and those with short fur not.' No one consciously decides here; it is the result of a logical process. When I say that gravity keeps us on the ground, this would also imply a conscious action, but there is no entity physically pulling us down. It is just how matter reacts to each other. And when 'evolution decides' something, it is merely a mindless process that selects certain things, like a sieve that selects only stones and lets sand pass through the openings. So when I write about evolution like this in the future, know that I am not referring to an actual person (or intelligence) behind evolution, I am talking about it as a mindless process. |
