Science, Creation & Evolutionso wheres the evolution in yeast? It's not misinformation IMHO, that would be willfull deception on the part of the editors. What it is though, is a oversimplification based upon the necessity to explain it to people who might not have the time or willingness (or possibly ability) to comprehend the material more profoundly. Combine this with the fact that most textbooks can only base themselves upon what's commonly accepted as true, and you'll see why errors end up in many high school textbooks. In the end, the books are there to give a starting point, the teachers probably need to explain the fundamentals of science more clearly. Above all that no "fact" is immutable, given enough reproduceable evidence to the contrary, any basic tenant of science can be modified or even discarded. |
