Christian/Muslim ThreadsA Proof :Quran is original and cannot be changedYou may have one poster here eating out of your hands, but I know better. You are attempting (without success) to make Quran hands-off, while allowing yourself the liberty to speak willfully on Bible and Christianity. Asinine to believe person need meet your criterion of mufassirin, muhaditheen or some other type of Islamic scholar to debate Quran and Mohammed. If you do not like it, that falls under category of, too bad. Let the readers judge soundness of argument, instead of trying to stifle debate when Quran is the issue. As said before, you have the right of response. The rejection of Lord Jesus is your loss, but Quranic rejection of Sonship in totality is the issue here. Let me quote you again, since you are trying to backpedal to something yourself believes more manageable. Q10:68 "They say: "God hath begotten a son!" - Glory be to Him! He is self-sufficient!..." Yusef Ali translation If this is logically statement then its contrapositive must also be true: i.e. If God has a begotten Son, then God is not self-sufficient. Since dependent means same as not self-sufficient, this can be stated: If God has a begotten Son then God is dependent. Now here is the problem with the tafsir you rely on from learned one. What God begets is God. It would not mean He would be dependent on some other entity; it would mean that He would be dependent on Himself. This is the very meaning of self-sufficience. If: Q10:68 verse is taken to totally reject a Sonship because it means dependency, then it is self-contradictory and therefore wrong. "Either the author of the Qur'an cannot answer this question and has not the necessary knowledge of all things or addressing a repugnant religion outside of mainstream Christianity. Nowhere in the Bible is a wife or consort mentioned. The begotten Son comes from the Father only, without any involvement of a third party, and therefore God was not dependent on anyone. This begetting is a begetting with full self-sufficiency. The author of the Qur'an might not have understood this, but the Quranic logic is wrong if it is supposed to be a response to the Biblical revelation." paraphrased answering-islam As Muslims understand the term beget, Christians whole-heartily agree the Holy God cannot do anything unholy. Nonetheless, the word "Be" can only be God's will being done, as always because it pleases him. Nothing here is totally ruling out Sonship. The words consort, wife, son, and beget are used in a very human, procreative sense. They are not used in a figurative sense. In every Quranic verse pertinent to issue of denial of Sonship. The term beget is absent in this verse. Apparently the author of Quran was not quite ready to totally rule-out possibility this could be easy enough for an almighty being without need of pre-creation, and could simply exercise his will with, "Be" Either this verse is a genuine oath for Muslims or meaningless speech. Again, nothing here is totally ruling out Sonship. This is enough for now, I will comment more on your post at later time. joseph |
