ArchivedQuestions about the BibleWho is your god?
I assume that you are Muslim(again, I assume), because you Muslims seem to be asking the same questions over and over. Hebrews 5:7 says God was able to save Jesus from death. It does not say that God saved Jesus from death. God is able to do anything, but that does not neccesarily mean He does it. Also, just because Jesus' prayer to be saved was heard, that does not mean God saved Him. When Jesus prayed to the Father about any other way to go through the situation, an angel comforted Him in order to go through the pain He was about to go through. God is not going to back down from the promise He made to man. When I pray to God for something, He does not always grant it, but He does hear my prayer, because at the end of each prayer I say, "but not my will be done, but thy will be done" as Jesus taught us. Eventhough Jesus asked the Father if there was any other way to pay for the sins of man, He said at the end of His prayer, "Thy will be done," and it was the Father's will that Jesus is to be killed for the sins of mankind. Finally, it is Paul who writes Hebrews. Paul does not believe Jesus was saved from His crucifiction, but rather, teaches His death and resurrection. Also, since you are going to interpret Hebrews 5:7 in you own way, how would you interpret Hebrews 5:5- So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, "YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"; There are no double standards here my friend. |
