Homosexual Discussion ForumBisexualityAs to this statement, the studies you claim the APA used in 1973 to remove homosexuality from the DSM III were "old, faulty studies". And since the both APA's steadfastly refuse to sanction or conduct any studies at all only shows that bias and prejudice control these organizations. Therefore the only reliable information will be found in published studies found in professional journals, not from the APA's. Also the information supplied by the psychology departments of colleges and universities is years behind current research. What is the difference between sexual behavior and sexual orientation? Self-definition of those interviewed and studied. Men who engage in sexual behavior with other men and do not self-identify as gay are not included as having a gay orientation, even if there primary sexual attraction is other men. On the other hand married men who have never engaged in male/male sexual activity yet have a strong sexual attraction to men and self-define themselves as gay are included in studies as having a gay orientation. In other words sexual orientation is based on subjective and anecdotal information since there is no real scientific test to determine sexual orientation. |
