I know what it means, but it isn't logical.
Explain to me, WHY, after 5730 years, the decay process suddenly takes longer untill almost infinity in the end
100 becomes 50 after 5730 years
50 becomes 25 after 11460 years
25 becomes 12.5 after 17190 years
12.5 becomes 6.25 after 22920 years
etc...
in the end, with the last isotipe you sit there and wait forever for it to decay but it won't because of this magical formula.
What halflife means for me.
5730 years for one half to decay, 5730 for the other half to decay.
It's not logical for me to believe that the timer "resets" after 5730 years.
If I fill a bucket with water, and it takes 5 hours for half of the water to drip out of little hole in the bottom, I find it illogical to believe that it will suddenly take another 5 hours for just a quart of the original amount of water to drip out...
but maybe i'm just a silly farmboy.
