ArchivedHomosexual AgendaFirst of all you have a valid point about so many Christians appealing to Lev. 18:22 and 20:13 while at the same time ignoring Lev. 18:20 and 20:10 where adultery is called an abomination, which carries the death penalty. Jesus emphasized that divorce is allowable for only one reason, which is adultery and if a man chooses to divorce his wife that man is not allowed to remarry or he is committing adultery. The divorce rate among Christians is higher than among non-Christians with Southern Baptists leading with a 29% divorce rate. However, you are missing the point. Sin is defined in Scripture and using the OT to find what God labels sin is not ignoring what Christ taught about fulfilling the Law. If you read the Sermon on the Mount carefully you will find this: If you read the verses that follow this section Christ fulfills the law by making it even more restrictive by making being anger with someone equal to murder and lusting as equal to adultery, etc. In other words Christ included the intent of our hearts or our motivations equal with the action. The Law’s restrictions about clothing, and other practices we do not observe in our modern society had more to do with purity than anything else. God’s law emphasized purity and He instructed His people to be pure and avoid adulterating anything including the cloth they made into clothes. The gay community is primarily responsible for most Christian’s idea that all homosexuals are promiscuous. When gay pride parades were initiated over 30 years ago floats were included that advertised and promoted lewd conduct, when AIDS became a national health concern gays in California fought closing down gay bath houses because “they had a right to their sex”, and gay men in polls admit to having more sexual encounters per year that the majority of heterosexuals. Gay men with your attitude of not sleeping around are rare, and you know it as well as I do. I agree there are some who are seeking partners without bed hopping, but in my over 20 years as an active gay man I met very few who fall into this category. You are also correct that God created each of us as individuals with unique talents, etc. However, I would like to ask you this question: Where in the Bible do you find the guidelines for gay and lesbian relationships and the mentors or men and women we can use as gay and lesbian role models? God was very specific about sexual relationships between men and women but is totally silent about sexual relationships between members of the same sex except to forbid them? If God created men to be gay, why do gay men have more health problems associated with gay sexual practices and have shorter life spans than heterosexuals? I understand you did not choose to be gay, but have you investigated the possibility of transforming your sexuality? I know that gay publications call the ex-gay movement a fraud but as an ex-gay man I know this is merely hateful propaganda, which is just as biased and prejudiced as the gay community thinks all Christians are against gays. |
