Esau and Jacob are mentioned in relation to the birthright of the children of Israel, as opposed to the salvation given to Christians through adoption, via baptism in Christ, into God's family. These are two totally different concepts, one being of the righteousness of law and the other of the righteousness of faith, which is the context of the NT verse you are referring to. Can you show me another example of this, elsewhere in the New Testament, besides in regard to the birthright Esau sold? Still, that makes no difference in my answer to that. I have been baptized for 27 years and have yet to feel threatened by God. Love works just fine for me. |
