Christian/Muslim ThreadsJesus and the pagan mythsThis is your main issue in which your whole rebuttle is based on. SO I will address this rather than your whole speculation. I did agree that one thing those other fugures had in connection with the Son of Maryam is the miraculous birth. All the other content has no parallel to the Islamic belief and concept of Jesus. The Miracles : This is not an issue cause all prophets brought some sort of miracle at the age of the people they were sent to and what was demanding at that time. Even the Quran tells us that Allah gave power to a pagan king, who was not a prophet that raised the dead. Even in the Bible a witch had the power to raise one of the prophets from the dead. The Ascension : Does the Quran confirm the ascension ? This is a two edge sword not agreed upon by all muslims. Many muslims differ as to this. If you had studied Islam as you alluded to then you would have asked which madzhab I believe in. As of the moment you had no idea what views I hold but you automatically assumed what I believe based on main stream western muslim beliefs. I will use what I said in the past before you came to this forum so you dont try to accuse me of changing my ideas to get out of some imaginary corner that you always fathom. Cause if I dont quote this I know you will say that cause all you been doing is assuming our concepts. So in other words to be technical about it the Quran does not confirm any ascension of Jesus. It confirms he died a natural death expressed in the Quran it self by the word "mutawaffi" in 3:55 which is confirmed in 5:117 . Find the grave of his mother then you would probably find the grave of her son seeing his mother disapeared right after he did. The Messiah : The concept of a messiah in Islam is contrary to christian ideology. There were many messiahs ie anointed ones of G-D who were not even prophets. A messiah is not a savior or liberator this is a lator Christian modification of the actual concept of the word. Messiahs ie anointed ones were priests that were anointed with oil for a particular position amongst the Levites and Aronites which was a consecration ritual. Thus was the original concept of the word. Even a pagan in your own Book is called G-D's Messiah. This is not an issue as the word can be applied to anyone who has a status of a high priest according to the original application of the word. Let me remind you that those critics against Christianity who have brought up other parallel figures to Jesus whom called them messiahs ie saviors of their people is based on Christian dogma of the word. However this has no application to the concept of Jesus in the Quran cause Messiah in islam does not mean savior or deliverer or liberator. Imortality : Imortality of what ? All prophets came and preached that in that the righteous will have imortality in the next life when they are resurrected. This is not an issue. This falls right back to what we believe, G-D sent prophets to all nations. Miraculous Birth: So we are left with one thing. The miracle of a woman having a child with out the intervention of a male. This question would not be for you cause of your beliefs. However the question for us is was Maryam the only woman to ever have a child without the intervention of a man ? I dont believe she was the only woman. Also, how do you explain how mankind populated ? If your answer to this is sister and brother had children this would be that G-D went against his own law, for this is a universal law. And there is absolutely no proof in your book nor in ours or in any other scripture that G-D allowed male and female sister and brother to marry each other and have kids and then later abrogated. Women back then could of well given birth without the intervention of men in which after a period of time older men being that they lived hundreds of years could have married their would be then cousins to start the population cycle, in which marrying your cousin is allowed in both the bible and the Quran that is also a universal law. Thus the miraculous conception beliefs were derived from such possible past events or could of actually happened to some of those religious figures, whom others borrowed from, and who could have well been prophets in which their teachings, and person became currupted after a period of time. |
