Science, Creation & EvolutionMorality and evolutionismWell, this is not necessarily true: Your own president does not 'go first' in the war. Being the leader does not mean you literally go first, but that is actually besides the whole point.
I'll link you to my theory about that: http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic.php?t=5632 It explains why social animals create a god for themselves. Let me add an even bolder theory to that: I would even go as far as saying that the development of intelligence and believe in a/several dieties is inherently connected: Intelligence is thought to only occur in social animals (according to scientists that work for The Discovery Channel). Intelligence in nature is in pretty much ALL cases connected with social activity (dolphins, elephants, monkeys/apes, cats, dogs). If my theory about following a hypothetical alpha-male is correct, we could assume that ALL social animals would have the tendency to worship an unseen super-variation of itself. (God creats its creatures in its own image) This would mean the following: If any of the mentioned animals would ever reach a point in their evolution where they have high intelligence, it is very likely that they will develop a religion that is based on an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent variation of itself. (The Dolphin's God that made the great oceans, or a Chimpansee's God that created the world out of a banana or something.) The gods of religions resemble their followers because religion is not the description of a super-entity; no it refers back to the people. To repeat a sentence I placed before: God did not create us, we created god. He doesn't exist outside our (actually: your ) heads. |
